My favourite co-host turned the big 4-0 this week and we had a big old party in the studio. Cast a crew all tucked into some cake, which I must say looked fantastic. I baked it myself! Jamie is such a wonderful colleague and friend and after watching the best of Jamie montage today I think I can safely say that mornings would not be the same without him. Here’s to Jamie!
Music always inspires great passion and great debate. It seems every generation thinks that their music was the best written, well sung and timeless. And today we put the generations to the test in our ‘name that tune’ quiz. Poor Bianca Dye! Years as a radio host have not served her well barely scoring a point. In her defence though there were some toughies this morning. But dark horse golden oldie Johnno Coleman took out the crown, even getting the N’sync question right. Very impressive, Mr. Coleman you are the King.
I’ve seen this play so many times and I still can’t get enough. We had the lovely Lisa McCune and the rest of the crew perform one of the classics from the hit musical which has already had a quarter of a million people tapping their feet. Meanwhile the shows star Ian Stenlake has been nervously biting his nails with the imminent birth of his child. It must be hard going on stage every night knowing you wife is inches away from labour. It was terrific fun this morning, I even tried my hand at doing a bit of a dance myself and the results are below.
We have a fantastic hand puppeteer on tomorrow doing the most weird and wonderful things, so be sure to tune in.
I think master milliner Neil Grigg said it best today when he commented that subtlety is not my style. So you can imagine my excitement when all these glorious creations came into the studio. Say goodbye to the simple fascinator because it seems the bigger the better this year and I’m loving it. From feathers to statement hats, I cannot wait to go to the races this year.
It’s so exciting to see one of our most successful Idol alums is hitting the big time over in the states. Guy Sebastian is home from recording his fifth album, his first in the US, and this morning you couldn’t wipe that trade mark grin off his face. His recent wedding to his girlfriend of seven years Julie Egan might also have something to do with it. As always Guy was real treat and remains one to look out for.
Tune in Wednesday for psychic Lisa Williams. She normally communicates with the dead, but tomorrow she’ll be answering questions from our live audience. You won’t want to miss it.
Posted 26/03/09 at 12:30 pm The weird and the wonderful (1 comment) We all know someone who has had a supernatural moment whether it is an aunt, a friend, a colleague. It really does intrigue me and I’m not the only one. A recent poll revealed that nearly half the population believes in ghosts. So today we were joined by Spirit Sisters author Karina Machado and seers Angela Wood and Leonie Evans who shared some incredible stories about being contacted by deceased loved ones. Their stories encouraged some of the other crew members on Mornings to divulge their personal experiences. This included music guru Cathy McCabe who talked about seeing her father during a very low point in her life and resident vet Dr. Ark also sharing an incredible story about his father. I personally cannot say that I’ve had any such moments but its still amazing listening to all these weird and wonderful things.
It’s not just women who spend hours choosing their underwear these days. Men have certainly come a long way since the loin cloth! And according to our experts Stephen Ristefshyl, Vincent Macheda and Joh Bailey the right band just above the jeans can make or break an outfit. And the range is certainly extraordinary. From the Global Brief to the Bling Brief which contains just a hint of gold, who knew men’s underwear, could make such a statement? This all kind of amazes me. I think it must all come down to the generational gap that we were discussing on the show today. I come from the days where underwear was bought by a man’s wife, mother, girlfriend with the good old six packs being the favourite. I’m not sure how my husband would react if I brought home a pair of dare briefs, but maybe I should surprise him?
Catch you tomorrow for live performance from the Black Sorrows. Until then, enjoy the view.
A merry time was had by all over the weekend at Channel Nine's big birthday bash. The networks golden anniversary brought the stars and the the champers to Queensland. Friday night saw us clink our glasses at Movie World, whilst Saturday had us partying until sunrise at Jupiters Casino. Thought I'd share a few snapshots.
