Thompson, toys and tucker 27 November 2008 12:00pm The incomparable Jack Thompson joined us on the show today, fresh from several premiers of the epic Australia. Jack of course stars in the film alongside Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman who were all transported to ‘Baz Luhrman’ land during filming, where take after take was necessary to achieve perfection. And having seen the film twice I can testify that it was simply that. Jack today shared his wonderment and excitement at being a part of a true Australian classic. He was even kind enough to cover for me during an extremely uncomfortable fit of coughing, delving into a wonderful rendition of a beloved Australian bush poem. While your tucking into your turkey dinner and Christmas stockings this holidays, give a thought to those for whom Christmas will not be such a festive occasion this year. With the worsening economic situation donations this Christmas are more important than ever, says Major Gary Masters from the Salvation Army. Major Masters encourages Australians to give to their Christmas appeal, by donating money and gifts to the Salvation Army who will be helping thousands over the holidays. Major Masters notes that teenage boys are particularly neglected in the drive for Christmas presents, and that any wallets, DVD’S, game boys and other gadgets would be greatly appreciated. A big thank you to all of our guests today, especially Swedish band ‘Oh Laura’ for their wonderful performance today and our wonderful resident chef Lyndey Milan for that scrumptious turkey loaf. Catch you tomorrow, Kerri-Anne ![]() |
Festive fun Wednesday 26 November 2008 12:30pm The Sydney Girls Choir helped spread the Christmas cheer in the studio this morning, with their beautiful rendition of ‘Jingle Bells Rock.’ There was singing, dancing and coordinated movements which were so in sync it was truly extraordinary. The girls recently enjoyed performing for Hugh Jackman’s surprise 40th birthday, meeting Rove McManus, Baz Luhrmann and Cate Blanchett. Talk about singing with the stars! We all know how tricky it can be to buy presents for the teenager in your house. Jamie popped in to help keep our kids Christmas stockings ‘with it’ these holidays. From inflatable pool toys and bicycles, to the latest iPod and DVD’S, you could certainly find something for even the most difficult teen this morning. The bicycle on the show reminded me so much of one I had as a teenager. It’s wonderful when the toys of your childhood come back into fashion again. Perhaps instead of giving your hubby a gym membership (nudge, nudge) this Christmas, a visit to Dr Anoop Rastogi for some lipo sculpture might be just the trick. Dr. Rastogi joined us on the show to discuss the growing phenomenon of liposuction for men. Smoothing away those love handles, beer gut and even the dreaded man boobs, Dr. Rastogi’s work has become increasingly popular for men in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. And looking at the results from his clients it’s no wonder. With the year wrapping up, you won’t want to miss a minute of Thursday and Friday’s shows. Catch you then, Kerri-Anne |
A day for the diva’s Monday November 24 2008 12:00pm Two of our finest and funkiest Australian pop sensations, Deni Hines and Christine Anu, had many a crew member bopping along today on mornings with a performance from their upcoming tour. I myself was having a bit of a boogie in the corner. What a killer combination they are! You can really see that they just love performing together, even having a bit of a gossip during the instrumental section of the performance. Deni dished the dirt on tour life with Christine, revealing her perfect ‘I have a child’ explanation to any arising problems. You can see the girls on their ‘Taking it to the streets tour’ throughout January and December, and I thoroughly recommend that you check it out. Another delicious diva on the show this morning, Yvonne Kelly, gave us a taste of the pre performance rituals of a premier opera singer, literally. When preparing for a show Yvonne follows a strict eating schedule which starts with a protein loaded meal 3 hours prior to curtains open. And for this opera singer it certainly seems as though an apple a day keeps the mid show fatigue away. For an extra sugar boost, Yvonne eats pureed apples with a little milk just before taking to the stage. Many I’m sure remember her incredible performance at the Sydney Olympics, which she describes as the highlight of her career. Another highlight undoubtedly was her nude opera performance. Yet, she assures us that the nudity was far from full frontal, and that even her mother could watch the show without feeling too squeamish. Jamie joined me with some fab Christmas ideas for the man in your life. That DVD player for the back of the car seat is a wonderful way to keep your kids entertained, and yourselves sane, during any holiday car trips. And Christmas came early for the female viewers of the show today as our gorgeous bronzed beach boys modelled the latest aussiebum underwear which promises to lift in all the right places. Centerlink’s Hank Jongen gave us the low down on what we can expect from Kevin Rudd’s latest initiative to help out the needy. Jongen advises not to call Centrelink with questions or requests and that any payments will be processed according to their existing information. The centreline manager divulged the details of the initiative, including the cut off date, 14th October, for the bonus which will be received by families with new babies. For further information visit the centrelink website. A big thankyou to all the guests on today’s show, especially our resident psychologist Ian Wallis, for his wonderful yearly wrap up. Today on Mornings... Thursday 20 November 2008 11:00am We kicked off the show with the lovely boys from Human Nature. From cute boy band which had the nation’s girls swooning to a more mature and critically acclaimed acapella group, Human Nature sure are here to stay. Their spontaneous performance today gave us a taste of their wonderful new album ‘A symphony of hits.’ Singing with style certainly is second nature to these Human Nature boys. Thredbo survivor Stuart Diver, Anna Rudd from the Salvation Army and farmer Mark Pickford joined us today to discuss male depression in rural Australia. In a time of drought and economic woes, it’s now more important than ever to address the toll this illness is taking on the health and well being of our farmers. Anna Rudd’s documentary, available on DVD, hopes to raise awareness of this growing problem. Mark Pickford knows firsthand the impact economic difficulties have had on farmers around Australia. Battling and beating depression, it was the support and love of his family which saw him through. Stuart Diver, who makes an appearance on the DVD, agreed expressing his gratitude to family and friends for helping him through his bout of depression following his traumatic experience and the death of his wife. If your planning on spending the holiday’s away from home this year, don’t forget to look after your beloved pets. As the temperature starts to climb it is important to keep your pets hydrated and happy. Keep a look out for those ticks and check your pets thoroughly and regularly. And remember , despite the energy and laughs our cute furry Maltese terriors from the RSPCA brought to the show today, I would advise careful thought and consideration before purchasing one for a friend or family member this Christmas. Kennerley, Kerri Anne Kennerley Wednesday 19 November 11:30am Roger Moore is such a charmer. After 30 years he’s still got a way with the ladies, and even I found myself fluttering my eyelids at this cheeky smooth talker. The third and longest running James Bond joined us on the show today, and is certainly still as debonair as ever. That with a witty and slightly naughty sense of humour and you have one killer combination. Here to promote his autobiography ‘My word is my Bond,’ he talked about his career highlights and on screen smooching. He even gave us some tips on how to kiss an over 35 year old, passion over pressure every time. Roger that. I had extremely high expectations of Baz Luhrman’s epic ‘Australia’ and I can honestly say that I was far from disappointed. The storyline was what really brought it all together, not to mention the A-list cast, and absolutely beautiful scenery. My favourite part was the action packed stampeded scene, it was as good as any action packed sequence from that latest 007 Quantum of Solace. The goss from the current affairs panel this morning was that the appearance fee for Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman’s appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show was courtesy of the Australian tax payer. Rumour has it that the Australian government forked out the fee to promote Australian tourism in the US. Regardless of the extra promotion, the film is sure to draw international acclaim and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the odd extra tourist next year, despite all our current dollar dilemmas. Coming up tomorrow on Mornings, the boys from Human Nature join us on the show. Make sure you don’t miss that one. Catch you in the mornings sometime, Kerri-Anne ![]() |
Thursday rolls around Thursday 6 November 2008 12:51 pm Weren’t the miniature horses on the show today absolutely beautiful? I am such an animal lover and I wanted to just pick one of them up and take them home with me. I am not too sure my dog Harvey would have appreciated that. But it’s important to remember if you do want to take home a gorgeous miniature pony that a lot of care and commitment is necessary, after all they do have a life expectancy of thirty years! Surfer Mark Occhilupo was quite the charmer when he joined us of Mornings to share the story of his amazing life. From surfer, to wiped out, to his ‘Elvis phase’ of drugs and obesity, to rejoining the surfing circuit and finding the peace he wanted in his life Occy’s rollercoaster has been witnessed by the world. His book ‘Occy- the rise and fall of Mark Occhilupo’ is a must read as his story is a truly inspirational one. And I’m excited about Michael Connelly’s new book. I love a good mystery and Michael is certainly one of the best. His new book ‘The Brass Verdict’ delves into the story of a defence attorney and a detective teaming up to solve the murder of a Hollywood lawyer. Look out for that one. Thanks to all our guests on today’s show. Catch you in the mornings sometime, Kerri-Anne ![]() |
Just to clarify... Thursdsay November 6 2008 11:50pm I was not unwell yesterday because of excessive Melbourne Cup celebrations (thank you Jamie) but unfortunately came down with a stomach bug at around 6am. Luckily it cleared quickly so I could get back into action. Don't believe everything you hear. Great to be up and running again, Kerri-Anne |
Feathers, frocks and frivolity Monday November 3 2008 2:30pm Derby Day always delivers an absolutely wonderful time. We settled ourselves in the Emirates tent and mingled with old friends and new. Jenna Elfman is a laugh a minute, not to mention absolutely gorgeous. And you're always ensured a good time with my old friend Kate Ceberano. When we girls get together there's no stopping us, or the champagne. Another wonderful year. Kerri-Anne ![]() ![]() |
The future looks bright Monday November 3 2008 12:00pm What little stars we had on our show today. The kids from Wyong Public School are to be congratulated for winning the Landcare competition. Their dedication to cleaning up the envronment is truly encouraging to see. It's hard to believe that the thirty kids we had on our stage today were their entire school! Atleast one on one student teacher time wouldn't prove too much of a problem. A big thank you to all the children (particularly the platypus), teachers and staff for driving all the way from the Central Coast at 6am this morning to join us and share their wonderful news. Yannick Coffi, a nine year old muscial superatar, also wowed us with his talents this morning. Fully accomplished at the key board, drums and bass guitar you can almost literally see his star rising. Proud Dad Jervais told us how his musical talents surfaced very young, that is even younger than now, when he broke out into song in the car. He's already won over the Japanese public, competing in a singing competition that brought praise and chievement, and you can't help but feel that the skies the limit for this talented boy. Our resident psychologist Ian Wallis had an extremely frank discussion this morning with a woman who lost over $1 million on the pokie machines. Fortunately she's been able to get her life back on track and provide inspiration for those facing similar problems. Tomorrow on Mornings we'll ofcourse be celebrating the Melbourne Cup. Catch you then, Kerri-Anne ![]() |
Danny, Sandy and little old me! Monday November 3 2008 11:30pm Olivia and John were a delight. It was so much fun hanging our with Captain Travolta in the cockpit during my trip to L.A. Pilot, actor, heartthrob - there is honestly nothing that man can't do. And Olivia has certainly still got it, radiant and gorgeous I'm convinced that she will never age. Check out the happy snaps! Home sweet home Thursday October 30 2008 12:00pm There’s nothing like a trip away to remind you how wonderful it is to be home. And we got right back into it this week on mornings. Today we had the woman who was the style queen of Sex and the City, the series and the movie Patricia Field. A New Yorker born and bred with wild purple hair, put fashion front and centre in one of the most successful television series and movies ever. My favourite outfit of the film was the white flower ‘opening credits’ dress. We had it on the show today in black and gold and it is simply divine. I might even borrow it myself for a night on the town. It’s a ready to war collection and she’s in Australia for the launch. There’s really only one word to describe Jermaine Jackson of the Jackson Five fame and that simply is cool. He is polite, softly spoken and extremely mellow. For someone who was thrust into the limelight at an early age, it’s nice to Jermaine is at a truly content place in his life. He enjoys the role of family organiser and big brother to Michael and was the one who stood by his side during many trials and tribulations. He’s taken on the role as the family rock. He converted to Islam in 1989. Moving away from being a Jehovah’s Witness. When I asked him why he said that there had just been something missing and now his life is a far more peaceful one. The Jackson Five are set to reunite soon which I’m sure many will be hanging out for. And didn’t our Hawaiian dishes on the show just look delicious. I can personally vouch for their tastiness. The seared tuna and sliced snapper cappacio were amazing. Make sure you look at the recipe section for all the details. Until later, aloha! Kerri-Anne ![]() |
| Thanks to the JJ’s Thursday October 23 2008 12:00 pm It sounds like it was an eventful day on mornings. Jaynie and Jamie got up close and personal with some furry and scaley friends. Jamie’s facial expression in these pics I think says it all but from what I hear Jaynie was quite the pro. One stick insect even felt comfortable enough to relieve itself on her arm. Perhaps it’s a good luck sign Jaynie? I’m meeting and greeting some wonderful people over here in L.A. including a personal favourite of mine, John Travolta. But you’ll have to tune in next week to see all my L.A. adventures. A big thanks go out to Jamie and Jaynie for doing such a wonderful job this week. Catch you in the morning sometime, Kerri-Anne ![]() |
| Greetings from L.A. Monday October 20 2008 4:00pm I was delighted to hear how well Jamie and Jaynie did this morning. The tap-dance routine sounded phenomenal, hats (or shoes rather) off to Jaynie for putting it all together with very little rehearsal. It should be a good show tomorrow on mornings. Kenny Rogers will be joining Jaynie and Jamie to talk about success, the future and his extremely eventful life, including twins at age 65! I’m extremely sorry to be missing his visit as I am a big fan of his work for longer than I’d like to admit. He will also be performing live in the studio, so make sure you don’t miss it. And the man responsible for the looks of some of the most famous faces in Hollywood, makeup artist Reggie Wells, will be popping by. Until recently I was unaware that presidential candidates needed a makeup artist but Barack Obama is one of his celebrity clients. It will be great to hear the gossip from an insider who I am sure has seen it all, zits included. It’s lovely and warm in L.A. even in mid autumn. Wishing you were here! But in the meantime check out these great snaps from Monday's show. Kerri-Anne |
| It’s a long way to the top Thursday October 16 2008 1:00pm Well after our morning coffees, we got a daily shot of gossip on the show. Diana Karmal Davies, former sister in the law of Heather Mills, stopped by for a chat about the infamous former wife of Sir Paul McCartney who’s caused such a global sensation (and not in a good way). And the revelations this morning were far from flattering. A possible history of prostitution, a string of unhappy relationships and driven by aspirations of fame, lets just hope Ms. Mills can pull it together for her 5 year old daughter Beatrice. The American presidential race is on the tip of everyone’s tongue and former Opposition Leader Kim Beazley was more than happy to share some opinions. Barrack Obama’s connection with Generation X and Y will get him over the line, says Kim, and the economic crisis has doomed the republican administration. Speaking of republican regrets wasn’t Tina Fey’s Saturday Night Live impersonation of Sarah Palin wonderful. There’s nothing better than a political send up, unless offcourse you’re a politician. And brothers Kenn and Simon Macrae have kept it in the family with their success in the amateur scriptwriting competition Project Greenlight. Winning $1 000 000 to bring their script ‘The view from Green haven’ to the big screen, filming wrapped earlier this year. The wonderful Wendy Hughes stars and from the little clip we saw this morning it looks fantastic. Hopefully we will see great things from the Macrae brothers. Next week I leave you in the capable hands of the lovely Jaynie Seal and Jamie Malcolm as I jetset to L.A. to get the latest from tinsel town. See you in the morning’s sometime, Kerri-Anne |
| Monday’s Moments Tuesday October 14 2008 4:30pm Greta Scaachi is an absolute delight. She is one of those actors with a rare combination of natural grace, elegance and strength. All this is mixed with a principled, no nonsense attitude to performance. Once known as ‘get em off Greta’ age and wisdom quelled her tolerance for filming nude scenes. Even standing up to director Robert Altman, her professional conviction has made her a stand out in the Hollywood crowd. Back in Australia for another undoubtedly brilliant performance, you can see Greta Scaachi in ‘Mary Stuart’ at the Ensemble theatre October 16-23. We were then joined by a rather unusual guest on the show, the latest luxury vehicle for disabled drivers. Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Children’s Services Bill Shorten also came along for the ride. Hs lack of a clear answer on how and when something could be done about tax on cars for the disabled was disappointing. Let’s hope that his trip to Canberra to push the benefits of disabled vehicles will prove profitable for people who need the break so much. With the hats and accessories at this year’s racing season, the last thing people will be looking at is the horses. The fascinator is out and the bigger the better. Large felt hats and headbands with decorative flowers are a great trend and the maxi dress is emerging at the ‘it’ outfit. Thanks to our gorgeous models for the low down on this year’s low hemlines. Catch you in the morning sometime, Kerri-Anne |
| Sex, dogs and rock and roll Thursday October 9, 2008 9:00pm It’s a dog eat dog world in the fashion industry, but today, we took it one step further. Four Chihuahua’s strut their stuff, or in some cases remained unmoveable, on the catwalk in tweed coats, ponchos and jewellery. But the best in show was definitely our crew member Ben who took to the stage himself after some gentle persuasion. Again we stress that neither the dogs nor Ben were harmed during this morning’s pooch parade. And you’re always ensured a good time with author Kathy Lette, just as I had at last Friday night’s launch of her new book ‘Love, honour and betray.’ George Clooney, teenage daughters and her neighbour Barry Humphreys entering at the rear door, no topic is ever off limits. I take no responsibility for her naughtiness. And that suit, with the cover of her new book all over it, talk about being dressed for success! More laughs were had in our trivial pursuit quiz. Andrew was finally victorious after an Idol worthy performance of ‘I come from a land down under.’ Lizzy and Geoff will have the chance to regain the crown next month. A big thanks to all our guests, especially Stone Parade for performing their hit song ‘Somebody will miss you.’ See you in the morning sometime, Kerri-Anne |
